Acupressure:

Pressure is applied to points on the body (the same points an acupuncturist uses) to help release areas of pain or tension. The massage therapist uses their fingers and hands the same way a acupuncturist would use needles. Similar to trigger point therapy, but far more accurate.

Ashiatsu Oriental Bar Therapy:

In this type of massage your therapist will suspend from a bar on the ceiling and massage the client with her feet. Ashiatsu Oriental Bar Therapy is a deep compression massage that is done in a push-pull-pumping effect on the clients muscles. By doing this, the massage offers relaxation as well as pain relief. This is known as the "Deepest, Most Luxurious Massage on the Planet.

Deep Tissue

Massage that focuses on the deep tissue in the body. This can be tissue that is scarred or injured somehow, causing pain, or it can be used as a preventative measure. To reach the deep tissues in the body, therapists use several methods, including pressure on certain points with their fingers, knuckles, or possibly massage tools. Another method that may be used during a deep tissue massage is heavy effleurage (this can be accomplished by the therapist using their body weight to apply pressure with their elbows and forearms).

Reflexology:

This is a type of massage therapy that focuses fully on the foot. While it always feels good to receive a foot massage, reflexology is more than just a foot massage. It is based on the idea that all nerves and body organs have points in the foot that correspond the rest of the body. This means that, if any area of the body is not functioning properly, reflexology therapy can help relieve the problem.

Shiatsu:

Shiatsu is a Japanese form of bodywork. The word shiatsu means "finger pressure", and shiatsu is sometimes described as a finger pressure massage. In shiatsu therapists use finger and palm pressure to energetic pathways, called meridians to improve the flow of qi. The pressure is applied with a kneading or even rocking rhythm. Shiatsu calms an overactive sympathetic nervous system, which improves circulation, relieves stiff muscles, and alleviates stress.

Sports massage:

Sports massage is custom designed for the professional or amateur athlete. Using a combination of techniques, varying levels of pressure, and plenty of stretching the athlete's needs can be addressed. Sports massage is used while training, before and after events, and to help in injury recovery.

Swedish Massage:

A Swedish massage is what most people think as soon as anyone mentions the word massage. We use oils to facilitate long gliding strokes along the muscles. This style of massage uses more oil than the Asian styles and is not typically very deep work. Feels smooth and flowing and is incorporated into the Asian styles for smooth transitions between deep work.

Thai Massage:

Originating from Thailand, this massage looks and feels like assisted yoga. Lots of good, deep stretching and deep massage work. The therapist will use fingers, hands, elbows, knees, feet and full body weight while working. We jokingly call this full contact massage. Not for wimps, but hurts soo good!

Tui Na:

This massage is used in China for Physical Therapy. It is a vigorous massage, using fingers, hands, elbows and feet. This is what we specialize in. There is very little oil used in Tui Na and the work is deep, but far more gentle than Deep Tissue. In Tui Na you will be rocked gently, acupuncture points will be used to help the muscles relax (no needles used, just hands!) and then we begin rolling, grasping, shaking, and kneading your muscles into submission. Any therapist practicing Tui Na must have a good feel for the muscles. You must listen to the muscles, they will let you know what they need to create a release. The great thing about a Tui Na massage is that it will relax you, and energize you at the same time. The mind relaxes and the muscles revive.
